Press Release
Set up in 1947, BAUDASSE Frères became BMI Fours Industriels in 1977 following its take-over by the HIT group and merger with MARTIN, another industrial furnace manufacturer in the Lyon region.
Since its creation, BMI Fours Industriels has specialised in the design and manufacture of industrial furnaces for heat treatments.
The beginning of the ‘80s was marked by the decision to stop production of all types of conventional furnaces and to concentrate solely on the manufacture of industrial vacuum furnaces for the main heat and thermochemical treatments.
As a result of 60 years of innovation, BMI Fours Industriels has several patents concerning both technique and processes such as low-pressure nitriding and low-pressure carburizing.
Following the takeover of the HIT group by the BODYCOTE group and the refocusing of the activity on heat treatment, the 3 furnaces manufacturers then belonging to BODYCOTE joined forces in 1999 to form Metall Technologie Holding (MTH).
Born in 1999, MTH comprises B.M.I. Fours Industriels, MAHLER and SCHMETZ. The MTH group is involved in the development, manufacture and sale of industrial furnaces, aided by the synergy between the specialisations of each of its members.
As part of an external growth policy, the original directors, supported by financial investors, set up the current management partnership which is aiming to establish the MTH group as a major player for heat treatment industrial furnaces. This dynamic led to IVA joining the group in 2005. IVA contributes its expertise in the design of atmospheric furnaces and completes the supply of the group, already comprehensive with ranges of vacuum furnaces from BMI and SCHMETZ and continuous furnaces from MAHLER.
BMI Fours Industriels offers a whole range of vacuum furnaces for the main low- and high-temperature heat treatments.
Whatever the vacuum furnace proposed, BMI furnaces are designed right from the start to be simple and compact, reducing occupation of floor space and operating costs. With the aim of reducing costs, each BMI vacuum furnace has a low dead load and is very well insulated, significantly reducing energy consumption and so treatment costs.
BMI thus offers an entire range of standard vacuum furnaces, from which we can develop custom-made solutions to meet the requirements of the most demanding customers, in horizontal or vertical configuration.
Our supply of heat treatment furnaces includes:
- vacuum furnaces for gas quenching (B8_T and VSE8_T family of furnaces),
- vacuum furnaces for oil quenching (B5_TH, P16_TH and V6_TH),
- vacuum furnaces combining oil quenching and gas quenching (B6_TH),
- low-temperature vacuum furnaces for tempering, annealing (B5_R and V5_R),
- vacuum furnaces for ageing, stress relief, magnetic annealing, etc.,
- vacuum furnaces for brazing stainless steels (B5_T),
- vacuum furnaces for aluminium brazing (BA_),
- vacuum furnaces for sintering (B5_T),
- vacuum furnaces for MIM (Metal Injection Molding) (B5_TM),
- compact heat treatment furnaces particularly suitable for laboratories and industrial environments where the production runs are small and the whole manufacturing process is to be kept under control (BMICRO),
- and many other furnaces for specific production or research and development applications.
Possibly complementing a heat treatment, thermochemical processes give superficial hardness to steels by diffusion of nitrogen (nitriding) or carbon (carburizing).
- ALLNIT Low Pressure Nitriding,
- ALLCARB Low Pressure Carburizing,
- Plasma / Ion Nitriding,
- Cool Plus sub-zero / cryogenic process.
