B85T : the new standard in vacuum hardening
For over fifteen years, the B8_T series of horizontal vacuum gas hardening furnaces have proved their ability to carry out a wide range of treatments with exemplary quality, compactness and versatility. The effectiveness of the patented system of rotary quenching flows via a rotating volute can be seen on all types of load, in that it leads to maximum homogeneity in terms of hardness and structure for both massive parts, where it engenders minimum deformation, and smaller-sized parts treated in bulk in baskets.
For a long time, the usable size of our furnaces has been limited to 450 x 600 mm for a height of 450 mm (B83T) and 600 x 900 mm for a height of 600 mm (B84T). With the needs of the tool hardening market and the aeronautics sector now converging towards ever-larger single parts or larger lots (aimed at reducing production costs), our offer needed to change. This new demand has fully justified the development and production of a larger-sized model, the B85T, in which the usable area has been increased to 900 x 1200 for a height of 700 mm, while the design uses the main features responsible for the success of the B8_T series. The first B85T was delivered in July 2005 and, since then, 4 more have been ordered, the next of which will be seen in our workshops during March 2007.
BMI has of course used the opportunity to improve certain details of the design of its furnaces, with one main aim in mind: to make them even more efficient and reliable, while continuing to offer the best compromise in terms of investment costs and consumables. For example, the configuration of the heating elements, the forced convection system and the flaps opening controls have been improved. The very positive feedback from customers has even encouraged us to incorporate these new ideas into the B84T model, which is the most widely sold of the BMI gas quenching furnaces. The design has been altered to offer this standard vacuum heat treatment furnace all the new advantages created and validated for its “ big brother ”, the B85T. The new version of the B84T is now available and the first example will be seen in mid-2007.
