Plasma Nitriding Vacuum Furnace – Type VI6_

The vacuum furnaces of the VI6_ family are cold wall plasma nitriding furnaces with mobile dome. Ion nitriding is a plasma technique that helps create resistance, i.e. protection of an area of the part that one does not wish to nitride (simple metallic masks are sufficient for protecting the part).

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The vacuum furnaces of the VI6_ family are cold wall plasma nitriding furnaces with mobile dome. Ion nitriding is a plasma technique that helps create resistance, i.e. protection of an area of the part that one does not wish to nitride (simple metallic masks are sufficient for protecting the part).

The load is set at a cathodic potential while the chamber is set at an anodic potential. The difference in potential thus created enables, under a sufficiently low pressure, the creation of a plasma dissociating the gaseous species. So there is a release of active nitrogen that is accelerated in the direction of the load to create plasma nitriding around it.

Plasma nitriding is an alternative to ALLNIT® low-pressure nitriding that BMI offers with its range of B5_R vacuum furnaces. According to the type of parts to be treated and the treatment specificities (with or without resistance), each of these thermochemical techniques will have its advantages and limitations. BMI can thus be sure to reply to your requests with an optimal solution.

The nitriding technique offered by BMI is fully automatic, thus facilitating use and ensuring the reproducibility of results. Cooling of VI6_ ion nitriding furnaces is accelerated by inert gas convection.

The automatic dome handling system enables clearing space above the sole characterised by a fixed sole allowing direct and safe assembly of delicate loads to be nitrided. A second sole may be provided to anticipate the assembly of a load.
