vacuum purge tempering furnace

ALLNIT® Furnace

Post-Oxidation Option for Enhanced Surface Protection

After low pressure nitriding, an optional post-oxidation treatment can be applied. This creates a black, corrosion-resistant surface that also reduces friction—ideal for components exposed to mechanical and chemical stress.

KN Regulation with Precision Control

BMI’s KN probe provides accurate real-time measurement and control of the nitriding potential (KN), compliant with AMS2759/10A standards. Our probe delivers excellent results with a regulation accuracy of ±0.2 points.

Compatible LPN Furnaces

The ALLNIT® low pressure nitriding process is available as an optional upgrade on all B5_R tempering furnaces, making it a versatile choice for integrated heat treatment lines.

LPN Furnace for Low Pressure Nitriding -  ALLNIT®

The ALLNIT® process, developed and patented by BMI, is a cutting-edge low pressure nitriding (LPN) treatment designed for high-performance surface hardening. Operating under vacuum conditions, this thermochemical process delivers superior case hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue strength for critical engineering components.

What is Low Pressure Nitriding?

Low pressure nitriding (LPN) is a modern, gas nitriding surface treatment that introduces nitrogen into the steel structure under vacuum. Unlike traditional atmospheric nitriding, LPN ensures:

  • Precise control of nitriding potential (KN)

  • Uniform case depth

  • Clean, oxidation-free surfaces

  • Improved metallurgical structure

This makes LPN furnaces ideal for treating components like:

  • Transmission parts

  • Cutting and forming tools

  • Press and extrusion tools

  • Plastic injection molds

How the ALLNIT® Nitriding Furnace Works

The ALLNIT® nitriding furnace operates at low pressure using a controlled gas mixture:

  • Ammonia (NH₃) – Primary source of nitrogen

  • Nitrogen (N₂) – Regulates nitriding potential

  • Nitrous oxide (N₂O) – Boosts ammonia dissociation

  • Optional carburizing gas – For nitrocarburising applications

Vacuum pumps and mass flow controllers ensure optimal gas flow and pressure stability throughout the process.
